Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide comprehensive support to attorneys handling complex litigation matters. This position will play an important role throughout the litigation lifecycle, including legal research, document preparation, discovery, court filings, case organization, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities, supporting several attorneys, and working independently in a deadline‑driven legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day paralegal support to attorneys handling complex litigation matters.
- Research and interpret applicable federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
- Prepare and format litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, petitions, and related filings.
- Assist with electronic court filings and maintain accurate filing records.
- Perform detailed citation review, including source verification and Bluebook formatting.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other legal research resources.
- Assist with discovery by organizing, reviewing, tracking, and preparing documents for production.
- Work within eDiscovery systems to support document review and case‑related production activities.
- Prepare deposition materials, exhibits, trial binders, and other materials needed for hearings and trial.
- Monitor case dockets and track important deadlines, filings, and case activity.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files and ensure litigation documents are properly managed.
- Assist with attorney calendars, case management systems, and litigation deadlines.
- Coordinate and organize materials for hearings, depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Provide support on special projects and additional litigation‑related assignments as needed.
- May provide guidance or oversight to legal administrative staff when appropriate.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience supporting litigation matters in a paralegal capacity.
- Experience working in a law firm, legal nonprofit, or similar litigation‑focused environment.
- Strong knowledge of legal citation practices, including Bluebook formatting and cite‑checking.
- Hands‑on experience with Westlaw is required.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys and managing competing litigation deadlines.
- Familiarity with eDiscovery platforms and electronic document management systems.
- Strong legal research, writing, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify errors in legal documents and supporting materials.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with attorneys and legal support professionals.
- Ability to remain organized and adaptable in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.
- Paralegal degree, certificate, or nationally recognized paralegal certification is preferred.
