Job summary

ABA Search, Inc. seeks a litigation paralegal to support attorneys across all phases of the litigation lifecycle, from discovery through trial and appeals.

You will organize case materials, manage electronic document repositories, and assist with Bates-numbering, redaction, duplication, scanning, and indexing. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of relevant litigation paralegal experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, document management systems (e.g., iManage), and firm applications.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and maintains case materials and electronic document repositories.
  • Prepares documents for Bates-numbering, redaction, duplication, scanning, and indexing.
  • Categorizes and maintains files in chronological, numerical, and subject-matter order.
  • Coordinates deposition logistics and assists attorneys in preparing witness files and exhibits.
  • Attends depositions to take notes, handle exhibits, and summarize transcripts.
  • Drafts motions and briefs and creates briefing books.
  • Bluebook and cite-checks and proofreads exhibits related to court filings.
  • Electronically files briefs or coordinates filing with designated personnel.
  • Meets annual billable hour expectations and records time entries.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigation attorneys across all phases of the litigation process, from case commencement through trial, post-trial proceedings, and appeals. THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:
  • Organizes and maintains case materials and electronic document repositories
  • Prepares documents for Bates-numbering, redaction, duplication, scanning, and indexing
  • Categorizes and maintains files in chronological, numerical, and subject-matter order to meet litigation team objectives
  • Works with litigation support and e-discovery teams and vendors on electronic discovery and productions
  • Prepares chronologies, indices, and summaries of information and facts from discovery under attorney guidance
  • Creates and maintains internal case databases for cataloging and retrieving documents
  • Conducts database searches and organizes retrieved information in a coherent, concise manner
  • Utilizes library resources and conducts factual research from publicly available sources
  • Coordinates deposition logistics and assists attorneys in preparing witness files and exhibits
  • Attends depositions with attorneys to take notes, handle exhibits, and summarize transcripts
  • Assists in drafting motions and briefs and creates briefing books
  • Bluebook and cite-checks, proofreads, and assembles exhibits related to court filings
  • Electronically files briefs or coordinates filing with the firm's designated filing personnel
  • Coordinates service of process and courtesy copies
  • Coordinates trial logistics and liaises with trial support staff as needed
  • Organizes and tracks exhibits, files, and other supporting documents for trial
  • Assists attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes and operating courtroom presentation software
  • Assists in the preparation of witness testimony
  • Meets the firm's annual billable hour expectations and completes time entry and administrative duties in a timely manner
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of relevant litigation paralegal experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, document management systems (e.g., iManage), and other firm applications
  • Available to work overtime as required
  • Knowledge of automated litigation support software such as Concordance, Case Logistix, and Relativity preferred
  • Previous law firm experience preferred
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others, including clients
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills
