Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of litigation paralegal experience in federal/state matters.
  • Experience with electronic filing in federal courts.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina state court procedures preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and exhibits in federal and state courts.
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution with organized records.
  • Maintain case calendars and deadlines; identify conflicts.
  • Draft routine litigation documents and assist with cite-checking and Bluebooking.
  • Coordinate written discovery and privilege logs.
  • Manage e-discovery workflows with vendors (Relativity, DISCO).
  • Prepare deposition materials, expert files, and exhibits.
  • Assist with trial preparation and logistics.
  • Support trademark-related matters including docket maintenance and USPTO filings.
  • Serve as point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and experts.
  • Manage competing deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Job description

Overview:LHH is partnering with a highly respected boutique law firm to identify an Litigation Paralegal to support a sophisticated commercial litigation practice. This role provides essential support to attorneys managing complex federal and state court matters and plays a key role in ensuring cases progress efficiently through all phases of litigation.

This opportunity is well-suited for a paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced, substantive environment and is looking for meaningful ownership of case files. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working directly with attorneys while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, finalize, and electronically file pleadings, motions, briefs, and exhibits in federal and state courts, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and procedures
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution, including maintaining organized electronic and physical records and monitoring active dockets
  • Maintain case calendars and track deadlines, hearings, depositions, and discovery milestones, proactively identifying conflicts and downstream impacts
  • Draft routine litigation documents including correspondence, subpoenas, deposition notices, and pleadings shells; assist with cite-checking and Bluebooking
  • Coordinate written discovery, including document collection, production tracking, and preparation of privilege logs
  • Manage e-discovery workflows in coordination with vendors, including document review, production, Bates labeling, and redactions
  • Prepare deposition materials, expert files, key document binders, and litigation exhibits
  • Assist with trial preparation, including assembling trial notebooks, exhibit lists, and coordinating logistics; attend trial as needed
  • Support trademark-related matters, including docket maintenance and assisting with USPTO filings
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and experts
  • Manage competing deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of litigation paralegal experience with substantive involvement in federal court matters
  • Experience with electronic filing in federal courts and familiarity with North Carolina state court procedures strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of the litigation lifecycle, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, polished legal documents
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat (including Bates stamping and redaction), and e-discovery or document management platforms (e.g., Relativity, DISCO)
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
