Job summary

AtWork Group is seeking an experienced Litigation & Intellectual Property Paralegal to support attorneys handling sophisticated commercial litigation and IP matters in state and federal courts. You will own case files, interact with clients, experts, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors, and work on all phases from case assessment to post-trial matters.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of litigation paralegal experience, strong filing skills, and proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat,

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of litigation paralegal experience with substantive responsibility supporting complex civil litigation matters.
  • Experience with electronic filing in federal and state courts.
  • Strong understanding of the litigation process, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, legal research resources, document management systems, and litigation support software.
  • Experience with electronic discovery platforms and document review workflows.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and ability to work onsite in the Raleigh area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including case investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and post‑trial matters.
  • Prepare, review, and electronically file pleadings, motions, briefs, exhibits, and other court documents in federal and state courts.
  • Manage litigation files and maintain case records, pleadings, correspondence, discovery materials, expert files, and witness materials.
  • Monitor court dockets, scheduling orders, and litigation deadlines to ensure timely completion of all case‑related tasks.
  • Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, expert meetings, and other litigation events.
  • Draft routine litigation documents, including notices, subpoenas, correspondence, certificates of service, and other procedural filings.
  • Assist with legal citation review, document formatting, and preparation of court filings and briefs.
  • Coordinate written discovery efforts, including document collection, organization, review, production, privilege logs, and tracking discovery requests and responses.
  • Support electronic discovery projects, including document review, processing, production management, confidentiality designations, redactions, and Bates labeling.
  • Work with outside vendors and litigation support providers on large‑scale document productions and discovery projects.
  • Assist with technology‑related and intellectual property litigation matters, managing confidential technical information, proprietary business records, and related litigation materials.
  • Prepare and organize deposition exhibits, witness files, expert materials, trial exhibits, demonstratives, and trial notebooks.
  • Attend trials, hearings, arbitrations, and other proceedings as needed to provide litigation support.
  • Assist with trademark‑related matters, including maintaining deadlines, preparing supporting documentation, and coordinating filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and third‑party vendors.
  • Provide additional litigation and administrative support as needed.

Litigation & Intellectual Property Paralegal

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation & Intellectual Property Paralegal to support attorneys handling sophisticated commercial litigation and intellectual property matters in both state and federal courts. This position offers significant responsibility and direct involvement in complex disputes involving intellectual property, technology, software, business, and commercial issues. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and post‑trial proceedings. This is a substantive role with meaningful ownership of case files and regular interaction with clients, experts, opposing counsel, courts, and litigation vendors. Candidates with strong Litigation experience will still be considered even without IP experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, legal research resources, document management systems, and litigation support software. Experience with electronic discovery platforms and document review workflows. Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Authorization to work in the United States and ability to work onsite in the Raleigh area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience.
  • North Carolina Certified Paralegal (NCCP) designation.
  • Experience supporting intellectual property litigation matters involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, software, technology, licensing, or related disputes.
  • Experience with sophisticated commercial litigation and large‑scale discovery matters.
  • Familiarity with advanced e‑discovery platforms and litigation database management.
