Job summary

Butler Snow LLP in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team on-site. You will draft pleadings, notices, and discovery, manage depositions and deadlines, and assist attorneys with trial preparation and research.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of paralegal experience, a paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree, and strong written/verbal communication skills, with mastery of MS Office and billable time tracking.

Responsibilities

• Drafts correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions and orders.
• Drafts notices of deposition, appearance, and subpoenas.
• Schedule and manage depositions and deadlines.
• Familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Conduct in-depth legal research using Westlaw and public records.
• Assist attorneys with discovery requests and trial prep.
• Other duties as assigned by attorneys or Director of Practice Support.

What you would do:

• Drafts correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions and orders (ranging from simple to complex)
• Drafts notices such as notices of deposition, notices of appearance, and subpoenas for appearance at deposition or trial or for documents
• Schedules and maintains depositions and court-imposed deadlines
• Familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Performs in depth legal research – retrieves cases or public record information using Westlaw; internet research, locate applicable cases, statutes, court rules, and regulations on specific legal issues
• Assists attorneys with discovery requests
• Assists attorneys with trial preparation
• Other duties as assigned by attorneys or Director of Practice Support
