Job summary

Butler Snow LLP in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team. You will draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions and orders, and manage deposition scheduling and deadlines.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of paralegal experience, a paralegal certificate or degree, and strong MS Office skills. Westlaw research and independent teamwork are valued in our collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of paralegal experience.
• Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience capturing and recording billable time.
• High degree of detail and client focus.
• Experience reviewing and summarizing XXXX records.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
• Drive and personal initiative.

Responsibilities

• Drafts correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions and orders (ranging from simple to complex)
• Drafts notices such as notices of deposition, notices of appearance, and subpoenas for appearance at deposition or trial or for documents
• Schedules and maintains depositions and court-imposed deadlines
• Familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Performs in depth legal research – retrieves cases or public record information using Westlaw; internet research, locate applicable cases, statutes, court rules, and regulations on specific legal issues
• Assists attorneys with discovery requests
• Assists attorneys with trial preparation
• Other duties as assigned by attorneys or Director of Practice Support
