Job description

We are a group of forward-thinking lawyers and professionals who have built a progressive business law firm based on a more passionate and personal way of practicing law. We are a small, but mighty firm that prides itself on being able to offer our clients the same level of service as a mid-size/big firm with our resourceful and nimble team.

We're seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to support our attorneys and legal teams as they prepare for trials, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings. In this role, you'll keep case files in order, ensure deadlines are met, and help the team stay well-prepared to represent our clients effectively.

If you're a resourceful team player with a passion for the legal field, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have daily experience in the following areas:

Case Preparation & File Management
  • Organize and maintain case files, both digital and physical
  • Assist with initial investigations by gathering evidence and documentation
  • Conduct research on relevant case law and regulations under supervision, and summarize findings for attorneys
  • Draft basic correspondence and standard legal documents, such as witness statements and court forms
Document Production & Court Filings
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
  • Prepare exhibits for court hearings and meetings
  • File documents with the appropriate courts and agencies within strict deadlines
  • Liaise with court staff regarding hearing dates and procedural requirements
  • Manage disclosure and discovery processes by collating relevant documents for review

  • Support attorneys in preparing clients for hearings, depositions, and mediations
Administrative Support
  • Manage attorneys' daily schedules and calendars
  • Monitor key dates to ensure compliance with court timetables
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times when handling sensitive information

The successful candidate will also:

  • Have a firm grasp of Illinois civil procedure and e-filing in all state and federal courts, with a willingness to learn Wisconsin processes
  • Be exceptionally resourceful and practical in their approach to problem-solving
  • Possess excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Have the ability to balance competing deadlines and demands

They will also bring:

  • Attention to detail. Accuracy in document preparation prevents costly errors
  • Strong communication. Clear communication with colleagues, clients, and courts keeps cases moving

  • Adaptability. The ability to respond quickly to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Initiative. Proactively identifying what needs doing next to keep cases on track

We look for curiosity, intuition, and innovation, and for people who are comfortable working both independently and as part of a group. We embrace a culture of fun, but we're also a culture of performance. We want to surround ourselves with unique problem-solvers who are energized by being fully engaged, and confident enough on their own quest to support ours. We encourage you to get involved in all aspects of the firm - to step up, work hard, and fill the gaps.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of direct, hands-on experience as a Litigation Paralegal, or equivalent, in an active litigation practice
  • Paralegal certification preferred, but not required
