Job summary

Midland Credit Management is seeking a Legal Assistant II to support the Company's attorneys and regulatory matters. You will help manage litigation, ensure compliance standards, and process incoming regulatory complaints.

Reporting to Corporate Counsel, you will collaborate with in-house counsel, paralegals, and outside attorneys to advance company goals and objectives. Training for Legal Assistant I is also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's preferred; High School Diploma required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar position.
• Knowledge of FDCPA/FCRA/CFPB regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial review and analysis of incoming pleadings, correspondence and other legal documents; draft pleadings, settlement agreements, dismissals, discovery, legal correspondence and memoranda for attorney review as required.
• Interact with Midland outside counsel and Midland employees to gather information, documentation or data as required for task at hand, or act as authorized to resolve the identified matter.
• Provide all aspects of legal and compliance support to the Legal team; organize, update, maintain and archive department files and records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist the Legal department with projects as needed.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
