Premises liability is decided by small things that most people never notice, and that's exactly what makes it such good training ground for trial lawyers. Notice cases teach you to build a story from fragments. Negligent security cases teach you to handle jurors' emotions. Do enough of them and you become very good in a courtroom.

Your caseload

• Slip and fall, trip and fall, negligent security and general premises claims
• Clients including retailers, restaurants, property managers, condominium associations and hotels
• Full ownership of files: early investigation, discovery, motions, mediation and trial
• Depositions of plaintiffs, store and property staff, security experts and treating physicians
• Arguing summary judgment and other motions on notice and causation
• Trial work, growing in responsibility as you do

The salary range is wide on purpose. Experienced attorneys and counsel are paid toward the top, take the more serious injury and negligent security files, try more cases as first chair and help develop associates. This isn't a starter role; it's a full practice.
