Job summary

KAPITAL in Los Angeles seeks an associate with 3+ years of broad-based litigation experience to join our Litigation Department. You will conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and assist in trial preparation.

The ideal candidate will have experience arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, and handling commercial litigation issues such as breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, or breach of fiduciary duty.

Qualifications

Job description

The Los Angeles office of our client is seeking an associate with 3 or more years of broad-based litigation experience to join our Litigation Department. Candidates should have excellent research, analytical and drafting skills, consistent attention to detail, and strong verbal and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also have experience arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, and preparing cases for trial. Candidates should also have specific litigation experience on commercial litigation issues, including breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, and/or breach of fiduciary duty. Experience in intellectual property is a plus as well. A strong academic record and admission to the California Bar are required.
Our client reasonably expects to pay between $250k and $275k in annual base compensation for this position. The base compensation offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the selected candidate's qualifications and years of relevant experience. Additionally, associates who meet Our client's minimum performance standards (including billing at least 1900 hours), can reasonably expect total compensation (base salary plus a discretionary bonus) ranging from $385k to $425k. The discretionary bonus may also be increased based on the number of hours billed and collected in excess of 1900 hours. Separately, the Firm credits associates with an additional bonus on work they originate.
