Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Litigation Assistant in Chicago, IL for direct hire. The role offers on-site work for the first 3 months with the possibility of one remote day per week thereafter. You will support up to three attorneys with calendar management, court filings, document prep, and general litigation support.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of admin or legal assistant experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in Word and Excel. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of administrative or legal assistant experience.
  • Experience in a law firm or legal environment is preferred but not required.
  • Strong calendar management and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable learning legal filing, docketing, and litigation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and litigation support for up to three attorneys.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate deadlines, hearings, meetings, and other commitments.
  • Schedule depositions, conference calls, court appearances, client meetings, and internal meetings.
  • Monitor shared calendars and ensure attorneys are informed of upcoming deadlines and schedule changes.
  • Prepare and organize legal documents and correspondence for attorney or paralegal review.
  • Submit documents through applicable state, county, and federal electronic filing systems.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical client files and update contact information as needed.
  • Assist with docketing and tracking important litigation deadlines.
  • Coordinate documents and materials needed for meetings, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals based on department needs.
  • Assist with basic paralegal-level responsibilities as experience and knowledge develop.
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and highly organized Litigation Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to a team of attorneys. This newly created position will support up to three attorneys with calendar management, scheduling, court filings, document preparation, and general litigation support.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for someone with administrative or legal assistant experience who wants to build a long-term career in the legal field. The position will also have opportunities to take on introductory paralegal responsibilities and gain additional litigation experience over time.

  • Newly created position due to continued growth and expansion of the firm's legal support teams.
  • Position is expected to start as soon as possible.
  • Employees work onsite during the first 3 months and may transition to 1 remote day per week afterward.
