Job summary

NACCO Natural Resources in Winnemucca, NV, is seeking a Mining Engineer to support the planning and construction of a developmental surface lithium mine at the Thacker Pass Project. You will plan and track short-range production during construction and into the mine production phase, working daily with operations personnel, corporate engineering staff, and on-site contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mining or related field.
• 1–3 years mining engineer experience in surface mining is desirable.
• Experience with construction and/or project management is desirable.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office, and project scheduling software.
• Surveying experience is a plus.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Familiarity with large earthmoving equipment in a surface mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and track short-range production during construction and into mine production.
• Coordinate with operations personnel, corporate engineering staff, and on-site contractors.
• Plan site surveys to validate material movement and ensure plans are followed.
• Assist in engineering studies such as operating budgets and equipment evaluations.
• Provide support to operations and maintenance departments as directed.
• Plan and track waste streams from the plant as it transitions into production.
• Assist in design and oversight of construction projects (buildings, concrete, water management).
• Support environmental projects related to mine permitting and regulatory compliance.
