Job summary

NACCO Natural Resources seeks an experienced Mining Engineer for the Thacker Pass Project near Winnemucca, NV. You will plan and track short-range production during construction and into mine production, working daily with operations personnel, corporate engineering staff, and on-site contractors.

The role focuses on tracking progress, updating plans, equipment scheduling, ore grade control, waste streams, and environmental/regulatory support, including MSHA compliance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mining, Civil, Geological, Construction, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with construction and/or project management is desirable.
• 5–10 years of experience as a mining engineer in a surface mining operation.

Responsibilities

• Track production/construction activities against plan.
• Update short-range plans to maintain project schedules.
• Prepare equipment scheduling to maximize efficiency.
• Ore Grade Control planning and scheduling to optimize efficiency.
• Plan and track waste streams from the plant as it transitions into production.
• Assist in long-term plans and annual work plans, including monthly updates.
• Prepare end-of-period material reconciliation reports.
• Provide technical support for environmental engineering projects and MSHA compliance.
