Job summary

Wissahickon Charter School is seeking a Literacy Specialist for the Awbury campus for the 2026-27 school year. The Literacy Specialist will support students in 3rd–8th grades needing literacy intervention and will communicate regularly with teachers and parents about growth.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of literacy teaching experience, some coaching or leading school-wide literacy initiatives, and knowledge of EL curricula or current best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 4+ years of experience teaching literacy (3rd–8th grade preferred).
• Experience coaching or mentoring teachers in literacy.
• Reading Specialist certification in Pennsylvania preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group and individualized literacy support using research-based practices.
• Adjust instruction based on progress monitoring data.
• Communicate student progress to parents and engage families.
• Collaborate with supervisor and teachers to schedule literacy support.
