Job summary

Wissahickon Charter School seeks a Literacy Specialist for the Awbury campus for the 2026-27 school year. The specialist will support 3rd–8th graders needing literacy intervention, communicating regularly with teachers and parents about growth, and aligning instruction with WCS curricula.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of literacy teaching experience, some coaching or leadership in literacy, and knowledge of current literacy practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• 4+ years of literacy teaching experience in 3rd–8th grade.
• Experience coaching or leading literacy initiatives preferred.
• Reading Specialist certification in PA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group and individualized literacy support to students in need of intervention.
• Monitor progress and communicate data to parents and teachers.
• Coach teachers in literacy and model instruction in classrooms.
• Coordinate school-wide literacy activities and celebrations.
