Job summary

The Allentown School District is seeking a Secondary Instructional Coach (Literacy) to support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies at Harrison-Morton Middle School. The coach will lead classroom demonstrations and provide collaborative and one-on-one coaching to strengthen literacy instruction.

Working with administrators and teachers, the coach will align efforts with district priorities, lead data sessions, and monitor intervention strategies, focusing on equity

Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional II Certificate.
• Master's Degree with urban teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of best and emerging practices of effective instruction.
• Knowledge of content/methodology for math & ELA instruction preferred.
• Experience with diverse subgroups (IEPs, ELs, marginalized populations) preferred.
• Ability to deliver effective Tier I instruction.
• Experience using assessment results to plan instruction.
• Knowledge of classroom organization and management.
• Ability to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators.
• Strong organizational skills and deadline management.

Responsibilities

• Model research-based instructional approaches and collaborate with teachers to determine best meeting those students' needs.
• Observe the teacher as changes are implemented and provide ongoing feedback.
• Provide ongoing professional development to teachers.
• Assist with systemic design and implementation of improvement to Tier I instruction.
• Support teachers through collaborative analysis of student work and assessments.
• Assist teachers with integrating strategies/manipulatives/technology into content instruction.
• Collaborate with curriculum writing and resource adoption at building and district levels.
• Set goals with teachers to guide work and monitor progress toward goals.
• Maintain focus on equity and inclusion and address inequitable outcomes.
• Build strong connections with faculty, staff, and administration.
• Support the administrator in creating school improvement plans with measurable benchmarks.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with principal and SOIs.
• Participate in professional development for coaches.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
