Job summary

BARNWELL COUNTY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT in Williston, SC is seeking a Reading Coach to provide job-embedded professional development and improve literacy instruction and student achievement.

The role reports to the Principal and requires a bachelor’s degree (or higher) with a literacy endorsement, plus ongoing professional development in reading. Focus is on supporting teachers and elevating reading outcomes through data-driven instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with literacy coach endorsement or pursuing endorsement.
• Active pursuit of literacy coach endorsement via SCDE-approved program.
• Master’s degree or higher in reading or related field with endorsement pursuit.
• Knowledge of data analysis to inform instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide job-embedded professional development in reading to teachers.
• Train teachers in administering reading assessments and planning differentiated instruction.
• Meet monthly with administration to discuss progress and concerns.
• Model effective instructional strategies and mentor colleagues.
• Coach and support teachers to improve student reading achievement.
