Job summary

AdvantEdge Technology, Inc. in Port Hueneme, CA seeks a part-time Linux systems administrator for the TESS Task Order. Duties include system administration, upgrades, installation and documentation, with some travel.

Requirements include 4 years’ experience with a technical degree or 8 years without; virtualization, LAMP, cloud platforms, scripting, and strong English communication. On-site role with potential travel and security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree with at least 4 years’ experience, or no degree with 8 years of technical Linux experience.
• Experience with one virtualization platform (KVM/VMware/Hyper-V); knowledge of TCP/IP, AD, DNS, DHCP.
• Ability to install new Linux OS releases, configure, patch, and secure servers.
• Experience implementing LAMP stack web servers with SSL.
• Experience with NFS/CIFS/SMB permissions; cloud platforms such as Azure, OpenStack or AWS.
• Scripting in Bash, PERL, Ruby and Python; knowledge of Java, Tomcat, and JBoss.
• Create, maintain and update documentation; backup and data migration skills.
• Hardware upgrades, performance tuning, travel capability; able to work independently or in a team; background check and government clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide Linux system administration and support for the TESS task order.
• Handle upgrades, installations, and technical documentation; some travel.
• Manage virtualization platforms and core network services; monitor systems and ensure security.
• Develop and maintain scripts for automation and reporting.
