Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting its global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues.

You will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments, contribute to upgrades, and support platform expansion.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing non-routine issues.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Python).
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience configuring web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, security hardening, Ceph, virtualization, load balancing, and core networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues and determine remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations on data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations, evaluate dependencies, risks, and execution approaches.
• Monitor performance and security posture and implement corrective actions.
