Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Instructor to deliver hands-on and classroom training for apprentices and journey-level lineworkers across its service territory. You will build skills, promote safety, and uphold professional standards within the electric utility industry.

Key duties include delivering programs, evaluating progress, maintaining curricula, mentoring learners, and coordinating with management and instructors to ensure program quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
• Experience in training lineworkers or utility field is highly valued.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems and safe work practices.
• Ability to climb poles and operate bucket trucks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training programs supporting field operations and safety procedures.
• Evaluate trainee progress through assessments and field observations; provide feedback.
• Maintain training records and update curricula as industry standards evolve.
• Provide mentoring and individualized feedback to support employee growth.
• Coordinate scheduling with management and other instructors.
