Job summary

Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) seeks a 1st Class Lineworker for its Grand Isle District to build and maintain overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines, ensuring safe, reliable service for members.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and proactive problem solving, with on-call rotations and the potential for relocation within a year. CDL required and pre-employment screening apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 4.5 years of utility line work experience.
• Must have completed an approved Lineworker training program.
• We will also consider an apprentice Lineworker.
• Must possess knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Knowledge of VEC's system in the Newport service area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
• Safely restoring electric service and supporting VEC's reliability goals.
• Collaborate with team and be prepared for on-call rotations.
• Live within 45 minutes of Grand Isle district or relocate within a year.
