Job summary

River City Construction is seeking a Distribution Overhead Lineman 1st Class for Ocean Isle, NC. The role involves constructing and maintaining overhead distribution lines across multiple locations, with travel to support storm work and emergencies.

Responsibilities include leading crews in the Foreman’s absence, installing poles, transformers, and switchgear, and troubleshooting primary and secondary systems. A CDL and ability to work high voltage lines are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of recent field experience.
• Work across multiple locations.
• Lift more than 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
• Willingness to glove/work live high voltage power lines.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.
• Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
• Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect lives.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Understand grounding procedures.
• Climb different types of structures and use necessary tools.
• Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
• Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
• Travel as required for storm work and emergencies.
