Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Lineman at multiple levels for its Wisconsin operations with a strong emphasis on safety, hands-on electrical line work, and growth through progressive supervision. You will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and inspection of energized and de-energized transmission and distribution facilities.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL, a high school diploma or GED, and experience in distribution line work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience with school certificate and internship.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect underground and overhead lines and equipment.
• Operate volt-amp meters, ground megger, and continuity testers up to 600 volts under supervision.
• Progress from direct to general supervision as skill increases.
• Tag switching procedures and perform inspection and trouble-shooting of lines.
• Direct the work of assistants and ensure safety on energized circuits.
