Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Shreveport seeks a Lineman C/B/A to install, maintain and inspect transmission and distribution facilities. You’ll work on energized and de-energized lines with supervision and progression toward higher responsibilities, including tag switching and transformer work.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, plus CDL Class A and lineman training. This is a full-time, on-site role with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; lineman training or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL is required; journeyman progression expected.
• Experience in electrical power line work and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and inspect underground and overhead facilities.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260–600 volts under supervision.
• Operate switchgear, test equipment and perform tagging and switching procedures.
• Build equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct and coordinate work of assistants and ensure safety standards.
