Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking Lineman A/B/C classifications for transmission and distribution work near Texas area. The role covers installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground facilities with progression through levels and compliance with safety standards.

Successful candidates will have CDL Class A, a high school diploma or GED, and relevant electrical line experience or training.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as: successful completion of a one-year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience, or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience.
Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures and other associated equipment on de-energized and grounded overhead and underground facilities under supervision.
Capable of working on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts during first six months.
Progress to working on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under supervision.
Use volt-amp meters, ground meggaers, continuity testers and other electrical test equipment up to 600 volts.
Perform switching and tagging procedures and inspect/troubleshoot lines.
