Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative in Cedar Park, TX is seeking an Apprentice Lineman who will perform duties in operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. You will construct lines, inspect equipment, and work energized lines after training; you will participate in safety programs, trainings, and call-out duties.

This role requires a valid Texas driver's license and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 2.
• Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local law and PEC policies.
• Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver's License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Correct and report problems and hazards observed.
• Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages.
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device.
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device.
• Demonstrate diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations.
• Must be available for Call-Out duty.
• May be called upon to direct the work of others in emergency situations.
