Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative in Austin, TX, is seeking candidates for a Lineman Apprentice role within the Oak Hill District Office. The incumbent will participate in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems.

Responsibilities include constructing overhead and underground lines, inspecting equipment, performing rubber glove work on energized lines, and advancing through Apprentice levels with supervision and safety training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of DOL-approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program Apprentice Level 2.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Operate PEC vehicles for business purposes in accordance with PEC policies.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Inspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device.
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial device.
• Demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1 and Apprentice 2.
• Maintain and service tools and equipment and participate in safety training.
