Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Lineman Apprentice in Grove, OK to build, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems. You will climb poles, install grounding devices, and work on energized lines with safety precautions.

The role requires completion of an apprentice lineman program, B-200, and a CDL A license, with long hours, overtime, and travel as needed. Compensation aligns with apprentice grades and alternating shifts.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• External candidates must have a minimum of 4 years line work experience and successful completion of the journeyman pre-assessment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL A state driver’s license.
• B-200 certification written test with 80%+ and hands-on demonstrations.

Responsibilities

• Climbs poles or rides in bucket to install or repair wires and hardware on poles.
• Installs and repairs underground facilities such as cables, transformers and pedestals.
• Installs pole hardware and auxiliary equipment using hand tools and mechanical devices.
• Covers energized lines with rubber goods for safe handling without interrupting service.
