Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Line Servicer to install, maintain, and troubleshoot transmission and distribution facilities across overhead and underground systems. You will respond to trouble calls, coordinate switching, and work with crews to restore service safely.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, 2+ years as Line Mechanic A or equivalent, and a physical abilities assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as Line Mechanic A, Lineman A, or equivalent.
• Shall have performed duties of Lineman A or equivalent and qualify through demonstration/examination.
• A physical abilities assessment is required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and take corrective action on trouble calls for transmission and distribution circuits.
• Investigate trouble calls; patrol lines; locate, repair faults and replace meters/services as needed.
• Coordinate complex circuit switching and restoration of service after trouble calls.
• Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or maintenance.
• Interface with emergency services to restore trouble calls safely.
• Communicate with customers and inform if trouble is in customer wiring or equipment.
• Install, remove, operate and maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities both overhead and underground.
• Disconnect and reconnect meters; read in/out meters; operate line switches and replace fuses.
