Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking two Line Servicer openings in the Belmont Office & Service Building. Responsibilities include diagnosing trouble calls, inspecting lines, and restoring service on overhead and underground circuits.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, at least 2 years as Line Mechanic A or Lineman A, and a valid Class A CDL. The role requires willingness to relocate within 30 miles of Belmont, OH and offers competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of Line Mechanic A/Lineman A experience or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and take corrective action with respect to trouble calls on transmission/distribution circuits and equipment.
• Investigate trouble calls; patrol and inspect lines; locate, clear and repair faults on lines and equipment.
• Coordinate and/or conduct complex circuit switching and restore service after trouble calls.
• Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
• Interface with emergency forces to accomplish safe trouble call restoration.
• Explain plans to customers and determine if trouble is in customer wiring or equipment; check for radio/TV interference.
• Install/remove operate/maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities, overhead and underground.
• Disconnect/connect meters; read in/out meters; operate line switches; manage line clearances.
• Direct the work of assigned coworkers.
