Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks qualified candidates for Line Mechanic C-A roles across Ohio service centers. Responsibilities include installing and inspecting overhead and underground systems, working on energized conductors up to 600 volts under supervision as you advance through the classification ladder, and guiding junior personnel in daily tasks.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or GED, and possess a CDL Class A.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in distribution electrical power line work or equivalent line experience.
• Must have completed apprentice lineman training or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and inspect overhead and underground facilities and equipment.
• Work on energized conductors and equipment up to specified voltages under supervision as skill level dictates.
• Test, de-energize, ground URD cable and troubleshoot URD lines.
• Build equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist and complete monthly apprentice cards.
• Perform switching duties with proper tagging and safety procedures.
