Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Line Mechanic-C requires 1 year of distribution electrical power line work experience or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-B requires 2 years of work experience as Line Mechanic C or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic-A requires apprentice lineman training with B-200 certification and journeyman pre-assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead, and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures and other equipment.
• After C-100, perform work on energized conductors up to 260 volts under general supervision; assist with work on energized circuits up to 600 volts under supervision.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable, splice and terminate URD cable, and troubleshoot URD cable under supervision.
• After C-200, work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts; use volt meters, amp meters and other test equipment.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
• Complete Monthly Apprentice Cards and submit for review.
