Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Line Mechanic C to support installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground electrical facilities, with progression through C-100 to C-400 levels under increasing supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience, or equivalent (see education options) is required.
• Successful completion of apprentice lineman training with B-200 certification written test with 80% or higher and hands-on demonstrations for external candidates.
• Must have Class A CDL and ability to relocate within 30 miles of South Point, OH.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities and equipment.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cables; troubleshoot and energize cables under supervision.
• Use electrical test equipment up to 600 volts.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
