American Electric Power Co. is seeking a Line Mechanic C for Canton, OH. The role involves installing, maintaining, and inspecting both overhead and underground lines, with progression through C-B-A levels as skills grow.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, apprentice lineman training with B-200, and a valid Class A CDL. Relocation within 30 miles of Canton South Service Center is preferred to support field operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; apprenticeship lineman training preferred.
• B-200 certification or equivalent hands-on demonstrations required for advancement.
• CDL Class A license is required or must be obtained as part of progression.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Handle conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures and structures under supervision.
• Test, de-energize, ground URD cables and troubleshoot energized equipment.
• Move primary conductors and equipment as skills progress through stages.
• Direct work of assistants and complete required apprentice documentation.
• Perform tagging procedures during switching of energized circuits.
• Maintain safety standards and participate in continuous improvement.
