Job summary

American Electric Power Texas is seeking a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground electrical facilities, build transformer platforms, and supervise apprentice work within the service territory.

This role requires a valid Class A CDL, willingness for overtime/on-call, and progression through line mechanic levels with hands-on training and strict safety standards to ensure reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum one year of distribution electrical power line work experience or related line experience with internship/educational background.
• Must have and maintain a valid Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Progress through line mechanic levels after training and experience.
• Perform switching and testing with voltmeters, meggers and other equipment up to 600 volts.
• Direct and supervise apprentices and co-workers as needed.
• Complete monthly apprentice cards and submit for review.
