Job summary

Marriott Tacoma Downtown, a downtown Tacoma hotel, seeks a dedicated cook to prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner at assigned kitchen stations, with setup and breakdown following safety and sanitation standards.

You will use various cooking methods, portion ingredients, and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers while maintaining cleanliness and proper temperatures. Teamwork and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow recipes and calculate amounts within recipes.
• Good, safe knife and equipment skills.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment including but not limited to blender, slicer, grinder, chopper, mixer, oven, grill, steamers, steam jacket kettles, fryer, and tilting skillet.
• Good reading and conversion skills.
• Ability to absorb a large amount of information in a short time.
• Ability to use good judgment, initiative, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepares various foods as directed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at assigned kitchen station with setup and breakdown per standards.
• Prepares a variety of foods with various cooking methods to meet production schedule.
• Pulls items in sufficient quantities to prep according to menu forecasts and prepares ingredients for cooking.
• Washes and peels fresh fruits and vegetables, weighs and measures ingredients, prepares cold foods.
• Operates ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers; maintains cleanliness and sanitation.
• Sets up, clears, and breaks down workstations; follows recipes and quality standards.
• Monitors food quality during preparation and ensures timely serving; reports maintenance issues.
• Maintains sanitation and temperature controls; supports teamwork and safety policies.
• Keeps areas neat, clean, and sanitized; maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
