Job summary

City Line Bar and Grill in New York is seeking a cook to accurately and efficiently prepare meats, fish, vegetables, and other hot & cold items, including plating and garnishing. You will also prepare garnishes for all plates and support final plate presentation.

The role requires 1-2 years of restaurant training and experience, and ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain. A strong focus on teamwork, safety, and high-quality guest service is essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred.
• 1-2 years previous restaurant training and experience required.
• Sufficient strength and dexterity to handle heavy pots & pans and to operate kitchen equipment.
• Experience with various cooking methods and procedures.
• Cooperative attitude in performing a variety of tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of City Line Bar and Grill.
• Inspect and clean, and maintain food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
• Knows and complies consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
• Handles, stores, and rotates all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures.
• Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
• Ability to Perform opening/closing tasks. Such as stocking stations, prep food, cleaning/sanitation.
• Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by company management.
