The Garden Restaurant at Temple Square, located in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake City, is seeking a line cook to join a beloved local dining venue. Key responsibilities include preparing and cooking menu items per recipes, maintaining quality and plating standards, and ensuring food safety.

The Garden Restaurant, located in the lobby of the historic Joseph Smith Memorial Building, is one of Salt Lake City's most beloved dining destinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
• Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and plating standards throughout service
• Assist with food preparation, stocking, and station set-up prior to service

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a line cook, cook, prep cook, or similar culinary role preferred
• Ability to work efficiently and remain organized in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Positive attitude, reliability, and strong teamwork skills
• Ability to take direction and adapt to changing business needs

Job Environment/Other Job Requirements

• May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays, to accommodate business needs
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Ability to repetitively bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check, as well as abide by all company policies
• Takes on additional duties as required or assigned by management

Compensation

Compensation $18.00 - $21.00/hour. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

Its history traces back to the prestigious Hotel Utah, which was built in 1911. After 76 years as a hotel, the building closed for renovations and reopened in 1993 as a social center. In remodeling the building, the beloved attributes of service, hospitality and quality that graced the hotel were lovingly preserved in The Joseph Smith Memorial Building. In 1988, Temple Square Hospitality was organized to service the dining needs of those visiting Temple Square and Salt Lake City. Since then, it has grown into a full-scale catering department, a fine-dining 10th floor restaurant, and a quick-service restaurant in the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
