Qualifications

• 2 years minimum experience in a similar position preferred.
• Basic comprehension of English oral and written language.
• Ability to read and measure recipes.
• Able to apply basic knife skills for preparation.
• Knowledge of weights and measures.
• Basic knowledge of cooking utensils and equipment.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
• Experience with interior of hotels, restaurants and kitchen areas.
• Exposure to humidity, steam and extreme temperatures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Providing and maintaining high quality standards in preparing and serving food.
• Maintaining knowledge of all food products and applying culinary techniques.
• Assisting as needed in execution of service.
• Maintaining menu knowledge and attention to plate presentation.
• Preparing hot and cold foods, including banquets and events.
• Ensuring food quality meets specifications and guarantees.
• Labeling and dating products for safekeeping and sanitation.
• Keeping the kitchen clean, safe and sanitary; adhering to sanitation standards.
• Assisting chefs with health, safety and sanitation procedures.
• Supporting cost control and waste reduction efforts.
• Following FIFO for product rotation and proper requisition handling.
• Communicating with management, chefs, and service staff to address guest needs.
