Job summary

Viceroy Washington DC is seeking a skilled Cook to prepare menu items across Restaurants, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria and Banquets, following standardized recipes and the hotel’s high standards for quality and presentation.

You will maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper food handling, support kitchen operations, and assist in inventory and food preparation to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field.
• Culinary experience required.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Able to withstand temperature variations hot and cold.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
• Complete necessary food and station preparation prior to opening to ensure guests are served promptly.
• Prepare and display buffet food items according to hotel standards.
• Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy and meats.
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen environment and proper food handling.
• Prepare food for Banquets as required and per event orders.
• Support in Employee Cafeteria as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
• Follow hotel standard recipes; assist chefs and kitchen staff as needed.
• Break down buffets and kitchen line and store food and equipment properly.
