Job summary

Alta's Rustler Lodge in Alta, UT is seeking a Line Cook for the 2026-2027 ski season. This full-time seasonal role focuses on timely preparation and presentation of quality dishes in a fast-paced kitchen, with emphasis on teamwork and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include following recipes, maintaining HACCP standards, and supporting all kitchen duties from prep to clean-up. Live-in housing options and meals during shifts are available, with ski pass included.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen experience is required.
• Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures.
• Accuracy and speed in executing tasks.
• Strong decision-making and planning abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork.
• Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
• Ability to obtain Utah food handler permit.
• Ability to stand, bend, stretch, lift and carry heavy materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Show up on time, in uniform ready to work
• Skilled at handling a variety of foods and kitchen equipment
• Able to remain calm under pressure
• Committed to quality service, and attention to details
• Prepare high quality food items by following recipes as well as presentation guidelines
• Actively participate in all kitchen duties, i.e., food prep, cooking, organization, and cleaning
• Ensure the proper HACCP handling and labeling of food
• Follow both written and verbal directions
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions of kitchen areas
• Perform tasks as assigned by management

Work Schedule

• Breakfast shift: 6:15 am – 3 pm, Middle shift 12-9 pm. Dinner shift: 3pm – 11pm
• Exact hours vary based on lodge capacity, weather, and staffing.
• Some ski time available most days depending on shifts.
• Weekend and Holiday work required.
• No vacation as this is a seasonal position.

Accommodations

• Both live out and live-in positions available
• For live in positions, onsite housing available in shared dormitory style rooms. Bi weekly room and board charge of $125 includes three meals a day
• Meals provided while on shift for live out employees
• Ski pass included
