Job description

Summary of Position: Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products. Prepare and portion food prior to cooking. Perform duties related to food and final plate preparation, including plating, garnishing, and preparing garnishes for hot menu items. Maintain cleanliness of the station and assist with prep and dish duties as needed.

Title: Line Cook

Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual and in proper uniform, practicing good hygiene.
  • Wash hands frequently and maintain sanitation standards.
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other items using appropriate kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure the quality of all products served.
  • Use knives skillfully and safely, wearing a cutting glove.
  • Follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies.
  • Maintain sufficient stock levels at line stations.
  • Portion food prior to cooking according to standards.
  • Keep work stations clean and sanitary.
  • Prepare items for various cooking methods, including seasoning and marinating.
  • Follow plate presentation and garnishing standards.
  • Properly handle, label, and store products.
  • Assist with food prep during off-peak times.
  • Close the kitchen properly, following checklists, and assist others in closing.
  • Support fellow staff as needed.
  • Manage trash disposal appropriately.
  • Attend meetings and contribute suggestions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications:
