Job summary

Holiday Inn KCI Airport's Burger Theory casual dining restaurant is seeking a line cook with strong time management skills to provide guests with an exceptional dining experience.

You will set up stations, prep ingredients, cook with grill, broil or sauté, and ensure foods meet quality and safety standards. Schedule includes weekday and weekend PM shifts (4pm-12am); AM availability is a bonus. Join a collaborative kitchen at the Kansas City airport hotel.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a similar food service, kitchen, or line cook role preferred.
• Food handler’s card or ability to obtain one.
• Knowledge of cooking procedures (grilling, baking, boiling) and food safety guidelines.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe to prepare various menu items.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat) and check quality.
• Cook food with various utensils or grillers; monitor and stir/turn as needed.
• Grill, broil, or sauté menu items according to standard recipes and presentation specifications.
• Follow proper health and sanitation procedures.
• Use tools and equipment safely to prevent injuries or damage.
• Assist unloading trucks and rotate inventory.
• Clean kitchen, freezers, and dish area; maintain sanitary environment.
• Store all food and items properly.
• Demonstrate professional and pleasant demeanor with visitors, vendors and staff.

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.

• Cook food with various utensils or grillers; check food while cooking to stir or turn.
• Grill, broil, or sauté menu items according to standard recipes and presentation specifications.
• Follow proper procedures in handling food to ensure health and sanitation guidelines are met.
• Use tools and equipment properly to ensure safety and avoid injury or damage to equipment.
• Assist in unloading trucks that arrive with supplies; store and rotate inventory.
• Clean work area, freezers, kitchen area, and dish area to ensure proper cleanliness is maintained; keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Demonstrate a professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with visitors, vendors, and associates.
