Job Description

A Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, consistent meals according to recipes and standards. They must maintain a clean and sanitized work area, exhibit impeccable food presentation and garnishing, and aim to exceed guest expectations to foster repeat business.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Set up stations and gather all necessary mise en place for service.
  2. Weigh and measure ingredients accurately.
  3. Prepare various foods including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold items.
  4. Prepare sauces and garnishes for your station.
  5. Store all food items properly, adhering to safe food-handling procedures.
  6. Inform the chef of potential shortages in advance.
  7. Ensure food is cooked to the correct temperature.
  8. Taste all food for quality before serving.
  9. Use food preparation tools according to manufacturer instructions.
  10. Close the kitchen properly, following the closing checklist.
  11. Maintain an organized and sanitized work area at all times.
  12. Follow safe and hygienic food handling practices consistently.
  13. Return dirty utensils to proper areas.
  14. Assist staff with additional duties as assigned by the kitchen manager.
  15. Sanitize refrigerators and storerooms regularly.
  16. Operate and maintain kitchen appliances safely.
  17. Keep records and generate reports as needed.
  18. Order and receive food and supplies.
  19. Report any issues with equipment or facilities to the manager.
  20. Maintain positive relationships with staff, guests, and supervisors.
  21. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent vocational training.
  2. Strong communication skills.
  3. Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and the ability to work independently.
