Job Description
A Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, consistent meals according to recipes and standards. They must maintain a clean and sanitized work area, exhibit impeccable food presentation and garnishing, and aim to exceed guest expectations to foster repeat business.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up stations and gather all necessary mise en place for service.
- Weigh and measure ingredients accurately.
- Prepare various foods including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold items.
- Prepare sauces and garnishes for your station.
- Store all food items properly, adhering to safe food-handling procedures.
- Inform the chef of potential shortages in advance.
- Ensure food is cooked to the correct temperature.
- Taste all food for quality before serving.
- Use food preparation tools according to manufacturer instructions.
- Close the kitchen properly, following the closing checklist.
- Maintain an organized and sanitized work area at all times.
- Follow safe and hygienic food handling practices consistently.
- Return dirty utensils to proper areas.
- Assist staff with additional duties as assigned by the kitchen manager.
- Sanitize refrigerators and storerooms regularly.
- Operate and maintain kitchen appliances safely.
- Keep records and generate reports as needed.
- Order and receive food and supplies.
- Report any issues with equipment or facilities to the manager.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, guests, and supervisors.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Strong communication skills.
- Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and the ability to work independently.
- Punctuality and reliable attendance.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- Proper food safety certification as required by law.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- High level of professionalism.
