Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a Line Clearance Trimmer to join our crew servicing Akron, Tallmadge and Ravenna. The job is on-site, outdoors, and involves climbing using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems, pruning and removal to support electric utilities.

You will operate chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts, and work with a foreperson and ground crew. Competence and safety training are provided on hire; part-time travel up to 25% may apply based on assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA/TCIA certifications such as ISA Certified Arborist or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal safely for major electric utilities.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs and other objects.
• Identify trees using knowledge of species and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with a foreperson and ground crew.
• Work outdoors; growth opportunities depend on performance.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer, joining our team servicing the Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas such as Tallmadge, and Ravenna.

Job Duties

What You'll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:

• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal

• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects

• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines

• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more

• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We're Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire

• Required: valid driver’s license

• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement

• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work

• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law

• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
