Davey Tree Surgery Co. seeks a skilled Line Clearance Trimmer to join our Akron, OH team, servicing Akron and nearby areas like Tallmadge and Ravenna.

You’ll perform pruning, removal, and line clearance tasks on utility sites, using climbing systems and a range of tools. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on outdoor work with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-A or CDL-B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide/licenses if state law requires.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees to prune and remove for utility line clearance.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged trees safely and efficiently.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, or other structures.
• Identify trees using industry pruning guidelines and identify species.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground crew and foreperson.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer, joining our team servicing the Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas such as Tallmadge, and Ravenna.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire

• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
