Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Specialist to support the Newborn Screening Program (NBST). You will lead configuration, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the LIMS, ensuring compliance with QA/QC, reporting, and accreditation standards.

This role interfaces with the NBST unit and the Bureau of Information Technology Solutions.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of professional experience performing scientific work in a public health, general biological, clinical or chemical laboratory.
  • Two (2) years at the full working level in a laboratory with complex instrumentation and LIMS.
  • Substitutions allowed: college coursework or a Master's degree may substitute for years of experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and training abilities.
  • Experience with LIMS development, validation, and reporting; quality improvement and QA/QC is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ongoing development, validation and implementation of the LIMS and related policies.
  • Conduct business analysis with stakeholders to align system requirements.
  • Act as liaison between laboratory, IT and fiscal units regarding LIMS matters.
  • Develop and deliver training on LIMS functionalities and procedures.
  • Create automated reports and queries for QA/QC and program reporting.
  • Support accreditation and certification requirements for the laboratory.
  • Retrieve data from LIMS for management reporting.
  • Prepare SOPs and respond to external data requests as needed.
  • Develop reports for grant reporting and program performance.
