Job summary

Milliken & Company, a global manufacturing leader, seeks a rising junior or senior to join the Limestone Plant in Gaffney, SC. The internship, reporting to the Process Improvement Manager, will drive continuous improvement in the slashing department and help develop and implement best practices to reduce downtime and optimize size formulas.

You will analyze processes, prepare diagrams, and communicate findings to a diverse team while contributing to safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS degree in Textile, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work on internship project in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is located at Milliken Limestone Plant in Gaffney, SC, and will report to the Process Improvement Manager and department manager. This role will provide the candidate with exposure to leading continuous improvement efforts at the site in our slashing department and the key role it has in the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements, driving new performance levels, improving quality, consistency and cost. The goal of this project will be to implement manufacturing best practices in our slashing department to reduce downtimes and optimize size formulas to improve our warp run ability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop a thorough understanding of all factors and conditions that impact the processes and products, including environmental impacts
• Use sound project management skills to manage assigned internship project
• Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking skills and focused improvement methods
• Incorporate creative thinking into the problem-solving approach to identify unique and different ways to make things better/more consistent/faster/cheaper/efficient
• Prepare diagrams, charts, tables to reflect findings and support recommendations
• Communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of associatesto accomplish project and location goals
• Participate fully in the Safety Process

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

• Rising Junior or Senior working toward a BS Degree inTextile, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or related field
• Detail oriented
• Strong organizational and communication skills
