Job summary

Shelter Corporation is seeking an Assistant Real Estate Manager to support Madison Terrace I & II, 55+ LIHTC communities. You will assist with leasing, occupancy goals, resident relations, collections, and compliance while coordinating with the Real Estate Manager and maintenance teams.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, and customer‑focused, with experience in multifamily housing or LIHTC preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of affordable housing or LIHTC experience preferred.
• LIHTC compliance, income certifications, leasing, collections preferred.
• Experience with Yardi or similar property management system preferred.
• Experience in 55+ or age‑restricted housing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Real Estate Manager with daily community operations and provide leadership and office coverage as needed.
• Assist with leasing and lease‑up activities, including prospect follow‑up, applications, lease preparation, move‑ins, and move‑outs.
• Support occupancy and lease‑up goals with professional service to prospective residents.
• Process rent payments, maintain resident ledgers, and assist with delinquency management and collections.
• Support LIHTC compliance and age‑restricted housing requirements.
• Prepare and maintain resident files, income certifications, and compliance documents.
• Coordinate with maintenance for work orders and unit turns; track open orders.
• Assist with reporting related to occupancy, delinquency, leasing activity, and compliance.
