Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort seeks a lighting technician to support operation and maintenance of lighting elements for events and venues. You may work independently or with a lead, applying electrical theory and a strong knowledge of lighting systems.

Responsibilities include installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting lighting equipment, reading lighting plots, and assisting in inventory and crew supervision. A technical degree is preferred with 3+ years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Technical school, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years in the assigned technical discipline.
• Intermediate knowledge of moving lights, LED and conventional fixtures, cables & connectors, power distribution, dimmers and lighting accessories.
• Ability to follow instructions from a Crew Lead and work without supervision.
• Basic networking knowledge and DMX understanding.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lighting Lead in installation, operation and strike of lighting equipment as designed per Event or Project.
• Interpret lighting plots and implement complex lighting systems with guidance.
• Troubleshoot and operate pre-programmed consoles under direction from Lead.
• Maintain and restock lighting equipment and inventory after projects or events.
• Disseminate essential information to Lead and teammates via FYIs and emails.
• Learn to create pull lists and assist in scheduling gear.
• Follow Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
